My son is a very, very reluctant reader and the Percy Jackson series was a godsend. For almost 2 months now he has been managing his library account, requesting books, picking up holds, getting audio playaways etc and has worked his way up to the Red Pyramid, the Kane Chronicles. The amount of info he gleaned re; Greek mythology is totally astounding. We look forward to hearing all about the Egyptian gods.kmnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501916482219712676.post-12029425985566646962010-10-07T11:33:59.419-04:002010-10-07T11:33:59.419-04:00I loved, loved Mockingjay and passed it to my husb...I loved, loved Mockingjay and passed it to my husband and dad to read. I don't think my mom would like the theme and of course my kids (ages 4 and 2) are WAY too young to read! But, I definitely recommend it to teens and other adults.

Great blog, by the way! From my far-from-expert vantage point, it seems the trend right now is very much either Twilight-y in one way or another, or dark and apocalyptic like Mockingjay. But I'll look for some good reality YA for my next update on the subject!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03816468104094440287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501916482219712676.post-54016450453297478282010-10-01T10:32:40.285-04:002010-10-01T10:32:40.285-04:00Thanks for the insightful YA reviews! Of course that means my own tween/teen will have nothing to do with them. Is there any good new reality based YA fiction out there?JK_in_KChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00103208684162091901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501916482219712676.post-87428918825231992552010-09-30T22:17:08.067-04:002010-09-30T22:17:08.067-04:00Pooh.
